Popy STRAIGHT Mute

A great little classic mute, with a very good characteristic "Straight Mute Sound."

Made in different versions, as with all Ullvén Mutes. Flexible over all registers, perfect intonation with an excellent, free playing feeling and response in all volumes. It was a sensation when it was first made in the 1940's by Mr Gunnar Ullvén for the popular Malte Johnssons Orchestra.

Now we found the old original tools and made them again, still as great as it was newborn back then.

Ullvén Straight Mute is perfect in any musical situation where a Straight mute is required, Classical music, Jazz Orchestras / Big Bands, Solo, but also in Wind Orchestras and Brass Bands.​

A general sound guide for the mutes

The Natural Aluminium has the loudest, easiest blowing, and brightest sound.​

The painted Mutes get a little more "Woody" character.

​

The Copper / Aluminium is a little more focused with a warm metal sound.

​

Copper mutes have a warmer, deeper sound, perhaps slightly more resistant.

​

Chrome-plated copper has the full sound of copper but with more brilliant overtones.
